家族の習慣
朝、ご先祖様のお墓参り

お墓参りの後
シンガポールの親戚たちは必ずロトを買う習慣がある。
紙を細かく10等分にちぎり
（今回はランチのお会計時のレシートを使用）
０から９までの数字を書く。
それを丸めたもの（数字玉と私は勝手に読んでいる）を
地面に投げる。
1人ひとつずつ散らばった数字玉を
順番に選ぶ。
今回は私が一番目に選んだ。
順番は決まっていない。
せっかちな私は
何の数字を拾ったか
すぐに見たくて開けたくなるのだが
勝手に開けてはいけない。
仕切り役の叔父に拾った紙を渡す。
叔父は出た数字をゆっくりと読み上げる。
ロトを買うことが習慣ではなく
買う前の、番号選びのこの一連の流れが
習慣化していると言った方が正しいかもしれない。
このルール、他で今まで聞いたことがない。
母方の親族のオリジナルルールだと思う。
祖母も祖父もロトが好きだった。
何かお祝い事があるたびに
そのお祝い事にまつわる数字のロトを買っていた。
＂ロト習慣＂
今はお墓参りの後にしているが、
みんなが集まってワイワイ楽しくという雰囲気は
お祝い事に近い。
私が幼い頃、シンガポールで暮らしていた時の
家族たちの風景そのもの。
ロトが当たることを夢見る楽しさもあるが
なんとも言えない親族の一体感を味わえるひと時に
これまたなんとも言えない家族の温もりを感じる。

ちなみに当たったことはない。
だけど、この習慣は
小さい頃の家族の思い出を蘇らせてくれる
素敵な習慣だ。

Asian Beauties
【DAY TWO】
午後、従姉妹とお茶を飲もうということになった。
待ち合わせに指定されたのは
シンガポールの市街中心部の大通り
オーチャードロードから歩いて20分くらいのところ。
東京にいるときは迷わず歩いていく距離なのに
シンガポールでは暑さに負けて
タクシーやGrabに頼ってしまう。

グレンジロードにある
緑の中に建てられた小さな可愛いお城のような白いお家。
ここは美容サロンだった。
スパで癒されながら、素敵なティータイムも楽しめる空間となっているそうだ。
アジアン風のオープンエアカフェや
スタバのようなカジュアルなカフェだと思っていたが
着いたところは想像とは違い少し驚いた。
絵本『ヘンゼルとグレーテル』で
二人が森の中を彷徨い
お菓子のお家を見つけたくだりを読んだ時の
ドキドキ感に少し似ているような気持ちになった。
迎え入れてくれたのは
高い天井から差し込む光。
その光に照らされた
笑顔のアジアンビューティーたちのPOPと
センスよく並べられた色とりどりの化粧品たち。
どこからともなく漂うお花の香り。
おとめ心をくすぐる眩しさ。

重厚感のあるヨーロピアン調のソファに座り
オリジナルブレンドのお茶をいただく。
爽やかな味とフルーティなアロマに
体の中が浄化されたような気持ちになる。
南国らしいカラフルなケーキたちの中に
日本の手巻き寿司と韓国のキンパが融合したような
不思議な海苔巻きたちの姿も。
緑のケーキは、パンダンの葉の緑だろうか。
久しぶりに食べる味は、幼い頃を思い出させてくれた。

Quinnは、お母様とHouse of IQを経営している。
お茶の後はサロンで販売している化粧品を彼女に
紹介してもらった。
さっき入口で出迎えてくれた
眩しいアジアンビューティーのPOPの中で
一際輝いていた女性。
シンガポールは一年を通して暑い。
そんな気候の中で生活する女性の肌のために
たくさんの研究を重ねてできた化粧品だそうだ。
彼女の陶器のような肌と
美肌に対する熱い情熱に心を打たれた。
美肌は1日にしてならずだ。
試しに乾燥肌用のフェイスマスクと
首用のパックを購入した。
House of IQ ツアーと題したオプションもあり
敷地内をいろいろ案内もしてくれた。
うっとりするようなフラワーガーデン
ガーリーな小物たちに囲まれた
秘密基地を連想させるようなピアノ部屋
優雅な気分になったりワクワク気分になったり
不思議な空間だ。
視覚、味覚、聴覚、嗅覚、触覚
この五感をフルに総動員したティータイムだった。
次回はスパも体験してみよう。

which is approximately a 20-minute walk from Orchard Road.
When I'm in Tokyo, I effortlessly walk to my destination without a second thought,
but in Singapore, I succumb to the heat and opt for a taxi or Grab. I heavily rely on it.

A white house resembling a charming small castle nestled amidst lush greenery.
It appears to be a sanctuary where one can indulge in delightful tea sessions
while being pampered at a beauty salon.
With its Asian-style open-air café ambiance,
I initially anticipated a casual setting akin to Starbucks.
However, upon arrival, it defied my expectations,
offering a unique experience that pleasantly surprised me.
As I read the story of "Hansel and Gretel,"
two figures wandering through the forest,
stumbling upon a house made of sweets,
a familiar excitement stirred within me.
I was greeted by the soft glow streaming
in from the high ceiling, enveloping me in its warmth.
Amidst the cheerful pops of smiling Asian beauties
and the artfully arranged array of colorful cosmetics,
a subtle fragrance of flowers wafted mysteriously through the air,
creating an enchanting atmosphere that truly charmed the soul.

【Quinn 】Oversees operations at House of Q.
Amidst the vibrant Asian beauty products POP poster on display,
she stood out as a woman radiating with brilliance.
In Singapore, where the heat persists year-round,
cosmetics tailored for the skin of women
residing in such a climate are meticulously crafted through extensive research.
Witnessing her shining porcelain-like complexion,
I was moved by her fervent dedication to achieving beautiful skin.
Indeed, the journey to beautiful skin is not one accomplished overnight.
The House of IQ Tour option was available as well,
and she kindly led me through the premises.
Amidst captivating flower gardens and
an assortment of feminine accessories,
the piano room felt like a secluded haven, radiating elegance and anticipation.
It was an extraordinary space,
where every sense - sight, taste, hearing, smell, and touch -
was fully engaged,
resulting in a tea time experience that was truly multi-sensory.
I definitely want to experience the spa next time.
